Work experience and internships

Spark! deploys over 30 years experience and a motivated team to organize work experience and internships for your students. Schools can commission services selecting from four models:

  • Model 1 – KS4/5 Non-specialised work experience placements
  • Model 2 – KS5 specialised work experience placements
  • Model 3 – KS4/5 extended/ Mini-internships or SEN placements
  • Industry Insight Day for full cohort or targeted groups of KS4 or KS5 students

In order to make co-ordination and evaluation easier school co-ordinators get access to our Salesforce platform.

Annual Planning Cycle

For schools working with Spark! to send a full cohort of students out on Work Experience, as soon as as one group has completed their placements, we look ahead to the next year and start planning the cycle again.

Advanced planning and lead times are critical to ensuring quality work placements at KS4 or KS5.

If your school has not yet planned the next cycle of your work experience programme, please get in touch with

The National Work Experience Service (beta)

Launching in beta in October 2014 our new, scaled up approach is built on 35 years of experience. Since 2012 we have further enhanced our platform and redoubled our efforts to ensure we efficiently provide safe, meaningful and personalised work experience. We are now making our work placements service for young people aged 14-19 available to schools and colleges nationwide. We believe our simplified approach to supporting work experience will enable more businesses to open up more placement opportunities. Together we can ensure that young people develop career aspirations and the skills they need to contribute to our future economy.
