Governance

“It is vitally important we equip our young people with the job and training opportunities they need to compete in the job market. Spark! are one of the excellent charities developing our young people’s employability skills through work placements and I want as many businesses and organisations as possible to get on board and help our young people into work.”

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London

Established in 1980, Spark! – the trading name of Hounslow Education Business Charity – is a non-profit organisation.  We were initially formed through close collaboration between London Borough of Hounslow Council, Hounslow Schools, Hounslow Chamber of Commerce, businesses and other business organisations in the area.  Our work is now increasingly reaching out beyond Hounslow to share our expertise across London.

Our charitable objects are to advance the education of the public, in particular but not exclusively young people, pupils and students in London Borough of Hounslow. This will be achieved through the provision of advice and guidance in relation to careers, training and personal development opportunities with the object of improving young people’s employability and to enable them to reach their full potential so they will be better prepared for adult and working life.

We are governed by a Board of Trustees, supported by an Advisory Group – and work hard to apply a balanced approach to sustainability.  Our performance can be tracked through our annual reports.

We are quality assured by the IEBE/AEBE, City & Guilds and BSC.
